The Real Time Canine II
After spending 2 years writing the Real Time Canine, the adventure continues with The Real Time Canine II. Read along as I look for just the right puppy to continue the experience. After false starts with Tim and Jed, I am currently training young Tam, and Spot, which are both off to a strong start. Please visit the RTC II to read about training sessions as they occur.

The Strang Ranch Sheepdog Trial
The Strang Ranch Sheepdog Trial is a new trial being held October 16-18 this year in Carbondale, Colorado, about 30 minutes from Aspen. It is being hosted in preparation for a possible USBCHA national finals bid in 2011. As the photo indicates, Strang Ranch is a horse-training, boarding and sales facility, but also serves as a working cattle ranch that is family owned and operated. One member has taken a distinct liking to sheepdog trialing, and my good friend, Bridget, is our hostess. Bridget's cousin is none other than Ellen Nieslanik, who tirelessly chairs the Meeker Sheepdog Championship committee each year, so Bridgie has great help.
Set on 460 acres of exquisite rolling Colorado hill country, at 7,000 feet above famous Roaring Fork Valley, the Strang Ranch will be using fresh, local range sheep and will run the trial over an irrigated hay meadow. I have had the uncommon good fortune to visit this incomparable location, and as you can surmise from the picture, it is simply stunning. The family will be hosting a handler's dinner on Saturday night, there is on site RV camping and hotel accomodations nearby. Please visit the website for more information about the trial, where to stay and an entry. I'll be there and I hope you will be too.
