The Real Time Canine II

After spending 2 years writing the Real Time Canine, the adventure continues with The Real Time Canine II. Read along as I look for just the right puppy to continue the experience. After false starts with Tim and Jed, I am currently training young Tam, and Spot, which are both off to a strong start. Please visit the RTC II to read about training sessions as they occur.

It's on!

Star's practical training has begun and it has been really easy going so far. Day 1, in the round pen and he went straight to balance, flanked a little, was easily convinced to change direction, chased a little and took hold a time or two. Day 2, moved to the 3-acre field, flanked a little, wore sheep to me and covered well, less willing to lie down with more confidence present. Day 3, first lesson in keeping things together when an ill-timed burst of speed caused a split. I was pleased to see that his first inclination was to bring them all and, together with Star's natural balance, you gotta love that.

The Real Time Canine will now include a daily training diary to help demonstrate the genesis of a sheepdog. As I do when dogs are brought to me for training, I will keep a log of each day's training progress and relate it weekly in the emailed Sunday digest. Please click here to subscribe.

Now is a great time to join us because I will make a donation for each 1 year and 6 month subscription received to The Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue and to The ASPCA.

Please subscribe and learn how I train a sheepdog from the beginning, one-day-at-a-time.
