I made this

Well, actually, God made the plant and I created the arrangement. These are Hydrangeas and they grow all over the country, in all different climates. They are an old plant that is undergoing renewed popularity, and they were a favorite of my mother. In our 50's, post-war bungalow back-yard, she planted them behind the garage between a concrete walkway and the back wall where they grew tall and bloomed profusely. With massive, showy, bulbous flowers, hers were the most gorgeous blue and pink and a happy memory from my childhood. I loved them then, and still do. I don't remember my mother ever arranging them, or giving them much care. I just remember the dark green, heavily textured leaves growing huge against the wall, and those immense, colorful flowers that lasted all summer long.

The arrangement above was cut from this plant that grows with another beside it just up from the front of my house. Had I done my homework before I planted it, I would not have put it under an oak tree, where it probably doesn't get enough sun to produce like my mother's did. My blooms are a little underdeveloped, and I will likely remove and replace these two with another plant that likes filtered sunlight more. I think I will transplant them near my kitchen where they will get they're preferred bright morning sunshine and afternoon shade. I don't pretend to be a good gardener, just a really appreciative one and I thought these flowers were so pretty, that I wanted to share.
